Bhima Kali Temple Sarahan

It is a double-storied building made of wood, which was brought from Munish and Dhamreda forests.

Reckong Peo

Earlier Kalpa was the headquarters later changed to Reckong Peo, named after group of people who used to own this place in ancient times.

All the area of Kalpa enjoys a temperate climate due to its high elevation, with long winters from October to May. The view from Kalpa is beautiful with an observer getting the feeling that he is sitting in the lap of the mountains with the entire range of peaks being visible. Also visible from this place is the sacred Shivling rock on the Kailash mountain that changes its color at different points in the day.


kazaKaza is overlooked by high mountain ridges on all sides. It has two access points : one from Kinnaur valley and the other from the Lahaul valley, 11 km from Ki Monastery, the famous Gelugpa establishment. The route through Kinnaur is open throughout the year, except for occasional short periods resulting from landslides or heavy snowfall. This road, starting from Shimla, follows the Sutlej river unto a little beyond Reckong Peo, thereafter turning northwards to follow the Spiti river all the way to Kaza.

Nako Lake

nako lakeNako Lake is a high altitude lake in the Pooh. Near the lake there are four Buddhist temples. Several miles away there is a village called Tashigang around which there are several caves where it is believed that Guru Padmasambhava meditated and gave discourse to followers. There is a waterfall nearby which has snow water falling like a river of milk. Legend says that it is a heavenly realm of fairies. In one of the caves you are still able to see the live footprints of these fairies or other demigods. It is a sacred place for the people of these valley.

Shri Khand Mahadev
